Tomorrow Donald Trump will become President of the United States. It’s a thing, and it has our world in an uproar. Facebook is so full of memes and posts … I’m really sick of reading about swamps and Russia and despair and pending doom and disaster and conspiracies and just plain resentment. I’m sure it’s not YOU posting this, but someone is. So here are my thoughts about all this…
1. I didnt vote for Trump or Clinton. Tomorrow we will have a new president. Like it or not, it’s happening.
2. Like the majority of my non-profit community-serving colleagues, I have concerns about how this will go.
3. Like all of my foreign-born clients, I have concerns for the safety of minorities (racial, ethnic, religious, economic, and any other kind you can think of) in this country.
4. Tomorrow we will have a new president. Like it or not, it’s happening. Complaining, protesting, and slandering Trump will not stop this.
5. Tomorrow we will have a new president. Like it or not, it’s happening. Singing high praises and ignoring or defending obvious flaws will not make anyone a better leader.
6. Tomorrow we will have a new president. Like it or not, it’s happening. Statements of despair, hate, and hopelessness will not help this transition one bit.
7. We live in a nation where we are free to have a voice. Protest for the actual issues you care about. Speak out with creative solutions. Volunteer. Make signs and march. Create change, not destruction.
8. We live in a nation where we have freedom to pray: do it. Pray for success. Pray that our leaders would have wisdom and discernment. Pray for favor, within our borders and without. Pray for blessing, even in situations you don’t like. Pray for hope. Pray that as a nation we would live out love.
9. Desperately seek out and cling to hope, for to willingly give up hope is to carefully select despair.
10. For Christians, do what Jesus told us to do in regards to life and leaders. And let God be God, for HE wrote history. We merely choose to live through it in grace or sprawling awkwardness. Don’t be that person who makes the rest of us look bad. Instead, be that person who makes love something tangible.
Yes, this is so true. God is in control and it is disturbing some folks are taking their freedoms to the extreme where it is no longer a “freedom” but a “criminal act.” I have concerns, but I know because God is in control, it will happen as it should.

Sallie, you always find the words to express yourself and manifest the beautiful person that you are. Thank you. Don’t worry about how this will go, nor about the foreigners in the US. Like you said, God is writing history and His thoughts towards us are for good not for evil.
